On the 11th of November Darse Mayne will be officially releasing his debut single “It’s my time “featuring ShakesSheezy and SirJoshPlz who are both under the same record label. Meek Mill headed to prison

Meek Mill has been sentenced to between two and four years in prison for violating his parole with two arrests, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer: one for fighting and another for reckless driving.

Meek Mill arrives at the criminal justice centre in Philadelphia on Monday.

The Philadelphia rapper – real name Robert Williams – has been on parole since autumn 2009, following a spell in prison on drugs and weapons charges. In March this year, the 30-year-old was arrested after a fight in St Louis airport and in August he was arrested on a charge of reckless driving. Although both charges were later dropped, the judge said the arrests violated Mill’s parole. He was immediately taken into custody.

Jay-Z was among those who reacted to the sentencing. The rapper – who owns Roc Nation, the company that represents Mill – published a post on Facebook saying “the sentence handed down by the Judge – against the recommendation of the Assistant District Attorney and Probation Officer – is unjust and heavy handed.” On Instagram, comedian Kevin Hart also showed support for Mill, saying “Praying for my brother @meekmill right now. God sometimes puts the toughest battles on his strongest soldiers.”

Mill was originally given five years of parole for the 2008 gun and drug charges and has violated his probation numerous times. Judge Genece E Brinkley, who has overseen the case from the start, told Mill “I gave you break after break, and you basically just thumbed your nose at this court.” During a hearing in 2013, Brinkley ordered Mill to take etiquette lessons after the rapper complained about court staff in internet posts. In 2016, he was sentenced to 90 days of house arrest.

Mill made headlines in 2015 when he entered into a feud with Drake, accusing the musician of using ghostwriters for his songs. Between 2015 and 2017, Mill was in a relationship with fellow rapper Nicki Minaj. In 2015 she told the judge she would help Mill to follow the rules of his parole.

After all is said and done we hope Meek Mill and all other famous personalities will be more responsible and watch what they do especially if it has implications on their careers.

Save the date for Dj Zinhle’s show

Dj Zinhle’s show on SABC 1 airs tomorrow evening. Will you be tuning in?  The show is titled – It Takes a Village  it mainly focuses on tackling social issues that are affecting young women. The show will only be taking place in DJ Zinhle’s hometown of Danhauser in KZN.  This is a great move for Zinhle who is originally from KZN because apart from this being a collaboration or partnership with SABC 1 it also will bring focus to the issues that young women in that area and across SA or Africa at large experience, perhaps people can act and not wait for celebrities to step most of the time.

Zinhle mentioned that the issues that the girls are going through she wouldn’t necessarily say she experienced as a young woman growing up in Danhauser as her mother shielded her a lot from the outside world, but one thing she would like to tackle is the high-rate of unemployment in small towns.

“I can’t necessarily say that these are the issues I struggled with. My mother protected us a lot when we were growing up. Unemployment has always been a big issue in my town and I believe that this is a big problem nationally. Small towns do not have a lot of infrastructures which means we have limited access to information and the world, which makes getting out of a small town a big challenge.” Said the DJ

“The story of domestic abuse really shook me, and luckily not because of personal, but because it is a story that you often hear in our country and it is getting worse by the day. There are killings and it is a painful story not only for those going through it but also for their families.”

Catch It Takes A Village this Wednesday at 21h00 on SABC 1.
