Diesel #AW18 Preview

Diesel AW/18 Preview

A transitional collection from day to night, AW/18 Preview, represents the new Diesel wardrobe, embodying the brand’s renewed attitude, contemporary, international and bolder. Focusing on the continuing evolution of Diesel’s key pillars: denim, leather, outerwear and sweaters. “Tokyo techno festival music scene is so vibrating and full of good energies, it seemed the perfect scenario for this collection. The entire inspiration comes from these vibes, so strong and distinctive perfectly matching Diesel spirit”says Nicola Formichetti the artistic director.

Sun-bleached acid pastels colors make the transition from summer to winter—together with stonewashed and bleached treatments on vintage denim round out the offerings. Authenticity is the mantra for the denim, where the journey towards the redis covery of a more authentic denim reaches new frontiers. Certain washes are accented with red cotton thread in the hem, to mimic flames representing a “Raves for Braves”’ attitude.

Tokyo techno music festivals always attract a weird and eclectic group of people and take place in the unlikeliest of places and create a vibe of trip-happiness that needs to be experienced to be believed. Fading to black, darker pieces and shades recall this raver attitude. Skinny, dark and moody, they speak to Diesel’s underlying rock spirit.

Utility has always been a strong element for Diesel, and this season is no exception. Drawing inspiration from Tokyo’s extreme street style, apparel and denim represent the ultimate trend for men and women. Since a couple of seasons, Classic‘ 90s logos and slogans, including the distinctive“D”, the seminal slogan“ Denim Division“ and the Mohican logo, are reintroduced all around the collection.Starting from our key pillars, and giving them a more contemporary attitude, where the vintage touch gets updated to modern shapes, and trends, creating a melting-pot of style that is fresh, versatile and relevant while staying true to our DNA.Talking about denim, the male offer sees the entrance of Mharky, inspired by the punk-rock scene of the late 70s, it’s been designed to become a new important player in the skinny leg family, whilst for female, Aryel has a regular classic vintage style with straight cut hips and silhouette, and Diesel’s mom jeans,”

Alys is high-waisted that hugs the hips without squeezing. The final touch to this collection, which speaks Diesel ’ s language to those braves who rave, is given by stellar accessories for both men and women.

Next to the best -selling SKB, refreshed both in colors and materials with a new ankle-cut style, new unisex models like Danny and Clever complete the offer of sneakers, while the 355-Flip were thought for those cool kids, the millennials but not only. For her the most iconic boots of the season are the cowboy like: West and Flamingo while trekking inspiration is a key, appearing in laces and tape on shoulder straps, make these bags“ perfectly imperfect”.

Sho Madjozi partners with Chris Martin

Sho Madjozi is one of the biggest stars billed to perform at the Global Citizen Concert in SA on the 2nd of December but her latest collaboration with Chris Martin is one to look forward to this festive season.

She spoke to The Juice at the Global Citizen press conference on Monday as she described the moment Chris Martin reached out to her as “insane.”  “Imagine getting an email from Chris Martin, the lead singer of Coldplay. So I just thought it was his PA. He’s like: ‘Sho Madjozi, I really love you. I really want you to be part of this festival and it’s a secret for now’.”  The musician says she agreed. “I always wanted to align myself with good cause and especially one that would appeal to young people.”

When asked about what fans should expect from her set, the musician says she will be bringing high energy and will also be performing a new song with Chris Martin. “I think with me people always expect high energy, people always expect me to bring some aspects of my culture. But I think we’re going to amplify it to the max, because now we’re talking about the production quality of global superstars. And Chris Martin and I made a song together, so we’ll be performing that.”

Dr Tumi searches for vocalists

Dr Tumi has launched a special talent search for a new crop of backing vocalists. In the run up to his The Gathering of Worshippers concert to be held on 1 September 2018 at Voortrekker Monument in Pretoria, the gospel genius has offered to use the big stage as a launching pad for new talent.

The search is open to male and female vocalists aged between 20 and 35 who live in Gauteng or are able to relocate to the province. There are nine coveted spots available for various voices.

The auditions will take place at Baseline in Johannesburg on 11 and 12 July 2018.

Hopefuls will be expected to perform one song in front of a panel led by Dr Tumi himself.

The gospel hitmaker has heeded the call to open up the industry to young talent and to create opportunities for musicians who may otherwise never get a chance to show off their talent.

Enthused Dr Tumi: “We all know how difficult it is for doors to open for young people in our country. This is my modest contribution to showcase the talent that may be sitting idle at home and I wish youngsters who have what it takes would jump on this opportunity.

“Who knows, perhaps this is the breakthrough they may have been praying for? So, I’m inviting all to come along and meet me and the team and show us what you have.”

*Tickets for The Gathering of Worshippers are available at Computicket between R200 and R260.

Jamie Foxx hosting BET Awards 2018

In the 90s I was exposed to a lot of African American movies and my old time favourite movies included this delectable , talented, hunk of a man we all know as Jamie Foxx.

Born Eric Marlon Bishop and better known by his stage name Jamie Foxx. He is an American actor, singer, songwriter, record producer, film producer and comedian. The multiple Award winning Actor, Musician and dotting yummy baby Daddy is the reason why I will be glued to my screen on the 25th of June watching the #BETAwards2018.

His career resume speaks of the degree of his influence across the rest of Europe and Africa too. I have been watching his movies since 1998 when Players Club came out, then there was Breaking All the Rules with Morris Chestnut and who can forget the movie Ray and many other great movies he has featured on. I am definitely looking forward to a great wardrobe from Jamie, he never disappoints on the Red Carpet plus his great sense of humour, he better not leave that at home because its the BETs.

Don’t miss the #BETAwards on the 25th of June 2018 on DSTV.
